My spouse and I will be staying mostly in the Athens area, but definitely looking for a few days to explore. It's likely we will have a rental car for a few days. I'm headed to Skiathos, Greece in about a week to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday. Is there anything we shouldn't miss? Restaurants, museums, culture? I know the beaches are beautiful, but am not sure I can spend an entire week sitting on a beach; I love to explore and do as much as I can on vacation. Day trips that don't have to be booked too far in advance also welcome (we're already spending a day going to Lalaria Beach). Thank you!

We have about ten days in Greece in early June. The first half or so of that will be in Athens but I keep seeing people say that Athens isn't exactly a place that it's fun to just exist in for a little while and that the beaches aren't great. A good friend of mine will be camping in Greece and travelling around by bus visiting Athens and some other places. Then they’ll be doing a yoga retreat, also in Greece. I was thinking of getting a little gift for them (£20, $30ish), something they could take with them that would be useful or comforting. But I’m drawing a blank.
