A nice gift for someone going camping in Greece?

A good friend of mine will be camping in Greece and travelling around by bus visiting Athens and some other places. Then they’ll be doing a yoga retreat, also in Greece. I was thinking of getting a little gift for them (£20, $30ish), something they could take with them that would be useful or comforting. But I’m drawing a blank.

Mentioned by Homer in his Odyssey, a wineskin came in very handy during my travels in Greece. It hangs in my garage, gets ocacssional use, and often reminds me of that trip and those friends.

Best answer: I have a "black diamond zip lantern". It's a small combination flashlight/lantern with a hook so it can be hung from inside a tent. It's small and very useful for camping or travel in general - where I find that often there is not a bedside light.

A nice sarong is great for that kind of travel - works as a sheet, towel, picnic blanket, shawl, clothing, etc. Dries quickly and rolls up really small in a pack.

Maybe a packable wide-brimmed hat for sun exposure?

Best answer: A cooling neck tie is a tiny wonderful thing to have in summer heat.

Having done some backpacking, I'd be very hesitant to give someone who's packing light anything additional to carry. That said, a solar charger might come in handy. A local SIM card or other way to use/charge their phone would be practical too.

Surprises can be difficult. Ask if they need an electrical adapter or Solar/USB battery pack. Or, cash.

I love to bring a few big mesh drawstring laundry bags when I travel, ideally in different colours (dollar stores often have them for a few bucks each). I use them to organize my clothes, separate my laundry, bring things to the beach, etc. Very light, packable, and practical.

Mosquito nets are inexpensive and lightweight, and something you might not think to bring.
