NOLA dinner tonight

I'm visiting New Orleans and am looking for a recommendation for a good restaurant that's open Sunday and into which I could walk in tonight as a solo diner and eat at the bar without a lot of fuss. Any cuisine or neighborhood so long as it's good. Thanks!

New Orleans in June with Mobility issues

I’m hoping for advice regarding accessible activities and renting a car in New Orleans in June. My family, including my 86 year old dad, will be going for 5 days. I’ve been there before, but not for many years. I’ve never rented a car, but am thinking I need to because of my dad’s mobility issues. [more inside]

Stodgy, middle aged folks wondering how to do Carnivale in New Orleans?

My husband and I will be in New Orleans for five days including the weekend of February 23-24. How best to navigate the pre-Mardi Gras festivities to maximize your enjoyment when we are the type who prefer museums and jazz to drinking and crowds. What do we need to know about watching the parades? Also, for people who have already seen the famous tourist sites, what else do you recommend? [more inside]

What are you favorite New Orleans gems?

We're visiting for 4 days and I've never been. What's good? I know about beingets and such but otherwise don't have a lot to go off. We're staying at the Ritz Carlton this month. Looking for great restaurants, neat sights, fun ways to kill an afternoon, and off the beaten path gems, if you got em!

Where should we go in the South for a New Years mini-vacation?

Our family situation is unique: we have two biological kids (in middle school), two recently-placed foster kids (one in middle school and one in preschool with some mild special needs), and a grown woman who we know from previous foster care experience and who is essentially our daughter. She has a fiance and a 2-year-old son. I wouldn't have it any other way, but it makes a traditional new years' getaway a little tricky. We want to drive somewhere south from Chicagoland where it's quasi-warm and there's opportunities for family fun. [more inside]

New Orleans in November - public transit touring & local picks

Please tell me about touring New Orleans by public transit and name your favorite places. New Orleans with Kids

My wife and I are taking our three year old and our 6 month old Baby to New Orleans for this weekend. We want to do some activities / tours to see the city. We are especially interested in short bus/walking tours that are fun & interesting for adults but could keep our 3 year old entertained enough to not drive everyone else crazy. Kid-friendly Foodie and/or ghost tours would be amazing. There’s several websites that list kid tours but they are hard to differentiate. I’m hoping for some first hand recommendations. Any suggestions or tips on NOLA with kids in general?

What's New in New Orleans?

I'm off to visit New Orleans for a while in the near future and I'd like an overview of what's new, what's changed, and what's not to miss. I've been a bunch of times but not recently and I'll be staying in the CBD- We like theater, eating, history, art, engineering projects, menswear (secondhand and thrift) and general homosexual bonhomie. Excellent tours ideal.
