A day and a half in LA - where to stay?
Headed to LA for a concert at the Forum & wondering if there is a funky, cool, diverse neighborhood to stay in? Was thinking Koreatown or Downtown but not sure how much of a pain it will be to get to the venue (will not have car, will likely Lyft to the show). [more inside]

Help me not hate LA?
Please don't take offense to this but I've received a wonderful job offer in LA and completely and utterly hate the city after 2 weeks. I lived in a lot of places and even places I didn't particularly like, I didn't seem to hate it. A lot of people live here and love it, so I'm missing something. Details within. [more inside]

Fun Stuff in Downtown LA
I'm going to be in LA for a single day and have successfully convinced my family (mom, sister, 12 year old niece) we should spend it downtown rather than at the beach. I used to live there and have some ideas but I would love to know about any other fun things I might not be aware of. [more inside]

I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter, Los Angeles edition
Hi! Just re-located to Los Angeles and very ready to take advantage of all the amazing culture this city has. I'm not on any social media (and don't plan to join), but one way I've typically stayed on top of events is subscribing to newsletters of various museums/theaters/comedy clubs etc and actually reading them and then going to them. Place to rest my head - CA Central Coast and Los Angeles
We are planning a six day trip, driving down Highway 1 from Monterey to Los Angeles next week. Challenge: where to spend the nights. Looking for towns to stop in, hotels to stay at. Other trip ideas are also welcome. Theme is relaxation and recovery. [more inside]

Cheap visit to California?
We would like to visit a family member who lives in L.A. We're flying from the U.K. but can only stay with the family member a couple of nights. After that we need something else to do but don't want to spend a lot. Any ideas? We'll be staying around a week in total and the budget is flexible but pretty low if possible. [more inside]

Things to do in LA with a 6 year old movie buff?
So we're taking 6.5 year old Schwingg! Jr. to LA next week and looking for movie industry things to do! He's very interested in the history of movie production, silent movies, and black & white comedies. Pretty much uninterested in going to Disney. To give you an idea, here are the stars he wants to see on the Walk of Fame: Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Erol Flynn, Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel, Groucho Marx, and Donald Trump. I understand that most of the movie set tours don't allow kids under 8, so that puts us in a bind. Ideas for movie activities (and any other non-Disney activities?)

Things to do in LA with a 4-year-old
I'm dragging my wife and preschool-aged daughter to LA next week for a conference. We're (unfortunately) staying at the conference hotel, the Loews Hollywood at Hollywood & Highland, but will have a car. A trip to Griffith Park is in the plans, but what else might they want to do while I'm schmoozing all day Thursday and Friday? [more inside]

A day in LA: what art is must-see?
I’m in LA tonight, leaving tomorrow night. I would love to see some of the most exciting contemporary art showing there right now. What do you recommend?

Accessible LA
My friend is a 22yo film/media student on exchange at UCLA and on the lookout for awesome things to do while she's there. Difficulty level: physical disability and uses crutches to get around. What are the best accessible places and activities that LA has to offer, apart from the obvious theme parks?

LAX to Aquarium of the Pacific right now-what's the best way to travel?
We've arrived in LAX a bit later than anticipated and it looks like the roads (particularly the 405 and 110) are already nightmarish. We thought we'd just take a cab but now I'm wondering if there are other alternatives we should consider. Public transit is great if it takes a little while longer, just not twice as long. And we're open to ideas like taking a cab for a couple miles at each end to catch public transit at the best spot. Suggestions?

Experience Hotel in or around Los Angeles
Need to vacate my place for 5 days for termite fumigation. I could just find some cheapish local place to stay, but I'm thinking why not make an experience of it. Are there any places in or around Los Angeles that provide an experience that is worth the extra spend? [more inside]

Good east-side LA spot for a Skype conversation
I'll be spending an hour tomorrow afternoon having a business conversation over Skype. What's a good place, relatively near Silver Lake, Los Angeles, for me to do that? Someplace not too loud / busy, and with (most importantly) robust WiFi. [more inside]

Quiet place in DTLA between 10-12 on a Friday night?
I have two hours to kill in downtown LA, alone, from ten to midnight on a Friday night. Where can an introvert go for a quiet-ish drink or dinner where I can sit with my book/phone without being disturbed or out of place? [more inside]

Going to Universal Studios Hollywood Alone
I think this Friday I'll arrive in the Burbank area early enough that I could spend most of my day at Universal Studios Hollywood. I've never gone to a theme park solo. Does anyone have any tips? [more inside]

Holy-wheeled
I'm going to be in Hollywood/LA attending a gallery exhibit, with two friends ( female). Coming from NYC, what should our trip look like, given that we want to make the ABSOLUTE MOST out of our limited time there, and given that I'm in a power wheelchair? [more inside]
