Good hairdressers in Vancouver?

Please recommend a good, affordable hair salon for ladies in Vancouver.
I have lived in Vancouver for over a year, but I lack a hair stylist! I need to remedy this. The max I'd like to spend for a cut is around $50. I am a young woman (24), so I'm looking for somewhere that caters to same. Location isn't a huge deal, but somewhere easily bus-able in Vancouver proper is preferred.

I get my hair cut at 'On the Fringe' salon in the student union building at UBC. It looks like the women's cuts range from $35-$46. Personally, I think the $25 guys haircut I get is a great deal and it always looks great as you can see from my lovely profile picture. The chief stylist has won some kind of national competition or something -- I think they charge a lot less than they could in order to cater to students.
p.s. they used to have a decent website and now it's horrible, I don't know what happened.

$50? Ask for Amy at Suki's on Granville. She cut my hair two Sundays ago, took great care to do good work.

I had good luck at Statik just off of Granville and Broadway. Amber was my stylist, and to be honest, I didn't give her a lot to work with (I have hair issues), but she still managed to do really good job. I paid $100, but that included $50 of product. You don't get the hard sell though - i actually asked for recommendations, and ended going crazy on the products without any prompting from them.

I'm a dude, but Shai at Pome Studio does my hair and that of women. She's in a little studio at the top of the Seymour Building between Pender and Dunsmuir (major transit hub for the trolleys heading North). She's got a portfolio and she blogs about style and fashion on the front page. $55 for women.

Check out Rain near Granville Island. Tanis at Rain is quite popular on the Vancouver community page on Livejournal.
