Hi There I am travelling from Dublin to Cong (30 miles north of Galway) in a couple of weeks. Can anyone recommend somewhere to stop off for a coffee and a bite to eat about halfway across? Thanks folks!

If you're staying on major roads, the drive should be a quick one. You can find a bite to eat at most any town you pass through, especially once you get off the beaten track. If you're on the highway and get hungry, just take an exit for a nearby town and you should be all set.

When we made the drive, we stopped at Athlone for a quick bite, but if you're angling to be more north of Galway, you could try Roscommon.

Best answer: If you decide to go through Longford towards Roscommon Edward Valentine's in Longford does one of the nicest burgers in the country (at least in my experience) It's right on the main street.
