Old-school donuts in the Valley

What are your favorite old-school donuts in the Valley? Specifically in Sherman Oaks / Van Nuys / NoHo? I'm not looking for cereal-crusted monstrosities I have to eat with a fork, just basic glazed donuts, maple bars, and fritters. Thanks!

When I lived in Studio City I liked Perfect Donuts at Moorpark and Vineland. Basic donut shop. Nothing fancy. Just normal donuts and coffee.

It's tiny and entirely unexceptional, but Peter's on Laurel Canyon a block from Sheldon in Sun Valley has been there for at least 30 years and is pretty old-school.

Sadly, my friend's great family shop seems to have closed. (Well, maybe not sadly, 'cause her parents are very old and she is doing other things. And also, Ted Ngoy was not a very nice person to owe money to.)

If it still exists, K's Donut Emporium on Ventura Blvd.

Best answer: Somewhat close to NoHo: Donut Hut in Burbank on Magnolia. I would always go there when I lived in the area.

Holy crap, I just realized it was K's I was eating a donut outside of during this earthquake (which we did not feel, but immediately got a text from my mother-in-law asking if we were okay). It was a good donut (and pretty much what I'm looking for, here).

I usually go to Mama’s in Van Nuys. They have a bit of cereal crusted stuff but mostly old school.

Response by poster: Wow, lots of love for Donut Hut. Good news is we’re flying into Burbank. Guess I’ll swing by on the way out of the airport!

Not the Valley, but I like Colorado Donuts in Eagle Rock. It’s a mix of classic and cereal-crusted.

Holly’s, on Moorpark/Tujunga, is Mrs B’s must-visit on trips home.

She even had some mailed internationally once, although we won’t be trying that again…

Response by poster: Update! We got donuts at Donut Hut in Burbank and K's. The donuts at Donut Hut were really great, and still super-fresh at like 2pm. Great selection, perfect old-school donuts.

K's were just fine. Not as good as Donut Hut by a long shot, but still miles better than Dunkin (although my wife claims the blueberry cake donut at Dunkin is better than K's).

Thanks all!
