ahhh, ooo oo aHH! ahhh, ooo oo aHH! There's a song that starts this way! I thought it was an M83 song but that doesn't seem to be the case. Any ideas?

Arcade Fire - Wake Up?

If not that, can you characterize sort of the... tempo of the ahh and ooing? The arcade fire one is slooooow, not what I was picturing, but it could be it I suppose.

Response by poster: It's much more up-tempo. And synth-y?

What was the context in which you heard it?

CHVRCHES maybe?

Response by poster: Someone played it in a shared music setting (like turntable). I don't think I've heard it on Pandora but I wouldn't rule it out.

Yeah, it could be Chvrches "The Mother We Share" which starts with a bunch of vowel sounds. Kind of M83 sounding too.

My vote is for Chvrches too though I kind of secretly wished that deep down you were totally tone deaf and it was actually this.

Response by poster: It is neither Chvrches nor Grits.

Was it a boy or a girl going "ooh ahh"?

Response by poster: Sounded like boy.

Are you positive it's not M83? Don't Save Us From The Flames opens very similar to that.

Best answer: I know you say it's not M83, but the pattern you wrote reminds me a lot of the intro to Midnight City. Could you hum it on Vocaroo or something?

Are you sure it's not M83 - Midnight City?

dang, beat by a second.

I really can't imagine anyone who's heard of M83 not being familiar with Midnight City, though.

According to Lyrics.net what you were listening to was Jimi Hendrix :P

It's a strange world I guess. ;D

I was actually going to suggest it, but I was like, nah, can't be it. I have heard that song literally a million times - it was actually Alamo Drafthouse Theater's 'preview montage' song for a while. So maybe it has more prominence in my mind than it really has in real life. I just think of it as "the one song of their's everyone's heard"
