Need help IDing a song

I heard a song on the radio today that I really liked, but foolishly I didn't drop everything and try to find it, and now that I've forgotten the lyrics I attempted to memorise, I need help to ID it! The station's website only shows the last 20 or so recently played songs, so it's no help. What I remember is that the song was girl group-y, almost certainly from the sixties or seventies, and that the lyrics were in part about lying—I think there was some plaintive line in the chorus accusing someone of lying or something. OBVIOUSLY this doesn't narrow things down much, but I'll listen to anything that you think fits the bill!
What about these...
"You Cheated You Lied" by the Shangri-Las
"Don't Play That Song For Me" by Aretha Franklin
"You Lied, You Dog" from Pillow Talk

Response by poster: None of those, sadly. It was definitely from a while ago, because the production was characteristically fuzzy, even accounting for the fact I was hearing it over radio.

Was it a slow song or an uptempo one?

Response by poster: Not slow. I don't remember it being, like, really uptempo, but it was definitely not a slow song.

You are much more likely to get the right answer from the station.
Contact them, tell them when you were listening, and ask them for a playlist covering that time. Maybe you can talk to the DJ, if it wasn't a robot.
Get that playlist and then search YouTube for each likely title until you find the right one.

Do you remember if it was about lying in general, or maybe included cheating? The first song that popped into my head was Lipstick on Your Collar.

Response by poster: Neither of those were it, sadly, but they're both really good which is something!
I can't remember if the song referenced cheating. ):

Response by poster: Bits and pieces are coming back. The focus production-wise was not on the lead's voice, as it is in the Betty Harris and Aretha Franklin suggestions... the vocals were a bit lower in the mix, probably because there was nothing particularly exceptional about them.

I don't agree that her vocals are not exceptional (tone, feeling, amazing, imo), but based on the lying idea alone, Laura Lee's Dirty Man?

It could be a very cool song from 1982 called "There's Something Going On" by Frida. I heard it twice ever on the radio, and I only know about it because it caught my ear.

Also, get Shazam on your smartphone, for the next time. Then you can just have the app listen, and tell you immediately what the song is.

Response by poster: Gaaaaah their system apparently only works by you giving a specific time, and then they tell you the song that was playing at that time. Which I think is probs bull, but whatever.
Keep the suggestions rolling in then I guess ): haven't heard it yet

Response by poster: Very tempted to just call up 60 times asking about the songs that were playing in 3 minute intervals in the time span it could have been 😑
