Overnight in Oberhausen

My husband and I want to drive from Berlin to Oberhausen soon to visit Christo's Big Air Package. Where should we stay overnight? It doesn't need to be in Oberhausen, but ideally within about a 30 minute drive. Restaurant suggestions also welcome.

I don't know what you get in Berlin, but I'm fond of the Chinese buffet restaurant at the mall (Neue Mitte) in Oberhausen. We used to go up there all the way from Duesseldorf. The food was good and it's a big place, so the food stays fresh and there's a huge variety of dishes. It's in a separate building behind the mall with other restaurants around.

The industrial history park ("Zeche Zollverein") around the Big Air Package is really very awesome, if you are interested in this kind of thing. They have a very decent cafe/bistro as well.
Regarding hotels: Düsseldorf is not far, epecially if you have a car. Lots of hotels for every budget and stuff to do in the evening as well. Try finding something near Altstadt or Hafen. (Since you seem to be a contemporary art buff, I also recommend the Kunstsammlung NRW.)
