I heard about TuneIn Radio on Metafilter. What are your recommended TuneIn radio stations?

There are a gazillion stations available. What stations do you like? I am mainly interested in music stations, not talk. I particularly like classic metal , classic funk, and I would be interested in AfroPop or something like Iridian radio. But I will leave the question open ended. If there is a station you think is particularly good, post a description. Thanks!

Try CKUT late Friday nights - the WeFunk show. I believe it was mentioned on the blue or green before.

WMBR's "Africa Kabisa", 4-6 PM sundays (eastern time).

I think TuneIn has a search function - give that a try too.

Best answer: I find the weirdest stuff on here. And I'm also on a Classical Music kick. And wanting to improve my horrible Spanish. So, my current favorite stations:

650 AM Radio Clasica - Santiago Vazquez, Uruguay. This is an AM classical station from Uruguay. I really like the fuzzy AM feed; it sounds all retro. (Also, a lot of treble hurts my ears, this feed doesn't have that). They play a lot of diverse classical music, without commercial breaks. And they have their own little musical call sign 'signatures', which I really love. I'm getting to the point where I can understand when they announce the artists and who is playing them.

Catalunya Musica - Barcelona. This is a classical station from Barcelona, Spain. Unlike the previous station, this is broadcast in the Catalan language. It also features a lot of music and composers from the Catalan region. I like it when I want to listen to something a little different from the normal classical music.

My TuneIn Favorites list right now:

WWOZ
Fine Music Radio
Radio Booki 89.5
Chante France (Le meilleur de la chanson française!)
Birdsong Radio (does exactly what says on the tin)
Sveriges Radio P2 93.3
The UK 1940s Radio Station
WWNO 89.9 Classical

I... don't know what half of those are (and I'm at work, so I can't, er, tune in), but I must have loved 'em all for a reason.

I like CalmRadio.com myself. It's a series of channels, classical, ambient, jazz, etc, that are supposed to be calming. Except these are all demo channels, so every half-hour the calm is broken by a slightly louder, slightly less pleasant pitch to go to calmradio.com and subscribe.

Otherwise, I listen to mostly Minneapolis and occasionally Chicago radio stations. Annoyingly, CBS-owned stations dropped off TuneIn, because they wanted to do their own deal.

For something a bit more unique, try:

Dublab Radio
SomaFM

I found a bunch of Halloween stations this morning and have been listening to that all day.
But I mainly use it to listen to my uncle's morning show in Austin from halfway across the country!

Best answer: One more station I like:

Rush Radio - All Rush, All the Time.

And the 'Rush' here is the legendarily nerdy and awesome Canadian trio.
