I don't know what this Kids In The Hall sketch is called. Do you?

Help me identify/find this Kids In The Hall sketch!

Mrs. pdb and I were talking last night about great Kids In The Hall sketches, and while hers was easy to find and identify (Girl Drink Drunk), one of mine is proving a little more elusive.

It was one of their longer-form pieces, and I believe it had Kevin McDonald as the main character. The "punchline" was that he was in a very, very long game of tag that he didn't know he was participating in, and that slowly drove him mad, but for the life of me I can't find it on YouTube or with Google because that's about all I remember.

Anybody have any clues as to what this sketch is called, or a youtube link to it if it exists?

I think I vaguely remember this one, did part of it involve someone breaking into his house to tag him (making him "It"), and then him (unsuccessfully) trying to tag other people?

Response by poster: burnmp3s - Yep, that's the one. And for the life of me I can't find it anywhere.

Maybe "Joint Tag" from Season 3. Can't find link, though.

Try "How I sleep" in Season 2?

If this is still unresolved when I get home, I can check the candidate episodes to confirm / deny.

bunny hugger: "Maybe "Joint Tag" from Season 3. Can't find link, though."

Since there is an earlier scene described as "Joint" and "Joint Tag" appears at the very end of an episode, I'm assuming it was being used in the TV writing manner (a small scene that wraps up a show or finishes off a running joke before it goes into the credits).

If you're talking about this one, that's definitely not it.

Try looking at this list of sketches.

I searched for both "tag" and "tags" and did not find any that sounded right. Do you remember any dialogue from it?

Several years ago on CBC Newsworld they showed several short spoof documentaries. They were prize winners from an event that was held in collaboration with the Hot Docs film festival. One of them was called "It" and was similar to what you describe. I remember the man walking down the street avoiding someone trying to tag him. It was made by a Toronto filmmaker at the tail end of the time when Kids in the Hall were popular. I only recall it now because I knew the filmmaker when I was in university. I've been unable to locate any reference to the short through Google. Due to the slight chance of anyone's all-time favourite sketch being one that featured Kevin McDonald, I'm offering for consideration the possibility that this other film may have been seen while flipping channels one night and mistakenly remembered as a Kids in the Hall sketch.

Response by poster: soelo - I don't, unfortunately.

TimTypeZed - this sketch was not "a man walking down the street avoiding someone trying to tag him" - Kevin was "it" and people were avoiding him because he was supposed to tag one of them, only he didn't know it. The person that tagged him at the beginning of the sketch did not explain what was going on, if I remember, it was just a guy climbing through the window, tagging, and leaving.

Due to the slight chance of anyone's all-time favourite sketch being one that featured Kevin McDonald

Citizen Kane begs to repudiate your opinion.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you're not thinking of a KITH sketch. I have all the seasons on DVD and watched the show religiously for years (and have seen the live three times, in addition to having seen solo projects by Bruce, Scott and Kevin) and I can assure you that what you're describing doesn't exist...

UNLESS it's one of those CBS things they used to show to link the shows together when they had that season on CBS. But that's pretty unlikely.

Ooh ooh wait a sec- are you remembering "office joker" from season 5? Where Mark does the "you have a spot on your tie" thing with Kevin and Kevin ends up going nuts imagining revenge against him? Kevin did get sort of "tagged" at the start of it and he does go mad, and it's definitely the longer form of sketch.

I was hoping that someone would have figured this one out by now, because now I want to know too. I definitely remember the same "going through the window" thing as well. I can't picture any of the characters in my mind, so I have no idea if it was Kevin or the Kids In The Hall at all, but considering that the show is pretty popular and nobody has heard of this sketch suggests it wasn't them. If I end up figuring out what it was from I'll post it.

Oops, forgot to check on this. My bad.

If my brain starts functioning better, I'll see if I can find this skit.

This question has defeated me. I really hope someone figures this out because I know I have seen this skit.

To anyone trying to figure this out, here's what I vaguely remember:

- Sketch starts with the main character asleep in bed.
- Someone opens his window and sneaks in. You're supposed to think that he's there to rob the place, similar to this sketch. Instead he just tags him and leaves.
- I think the main character wakes up at this point but I'm not sure.
- The main character is shown walking around town, and somehow everyone knows to keep their distance from him to avoid being tagged.
- I think there's more to the sketch after that but I can't remember it.

Based on the lack of details and overall fuzziness of the memory, it seems like I saw it at least 10 years ago rather than more recently. Also, I think the first part of the sketch (with the guy coming through the window) was shot live on stage whereas the rest of it was pretaped. If so, even though The Kids In The Hall was a mixture of pretaped and on-stage, I can't remember back and forth between the two in a single sketch, so that might further suggest that it's from something else. Other sketch shows I've watched include SNL, Upright Citizens Brigade, Mr Show, The State, and The Vacant Lot, although it feels like a Kids In The Hall sketch more than any of those.

Response by poster: utsutsu - I'm on the verge of buying and watching every season just so i can find it.

Burnmp3s - I've never seen an episode of UCB, The State, or The Vacant Lot, so I can rule those out. it might might might be an SNL sketch, but most of my DNA tells me it was KITH.

Maybe try posting a thread in the KITHfan.org forums here?

I don't suppose the KITH apathetic burglar sketch blended with this old Nike ad by accident?

Response by poster: sharkfu - unfortunately not, although that is an awesome ad. Off to the KITHfan forums!
