We have a long layover in Madrid on a Saturday night (March 11th) and need recommendations for an amazing authentic Spanish restaurant. Price doesn't really matter, as long as we can get a reservation, if needed. We're staying in the Hotel Villa Real, very close to the Museo Nacional Del Prado. If we could go somewhere walking distance from there, that'd be ideal! Thank you!

That's to you guys we're going to Madrid for two weeks in mid Janurary. Since it's our first time we plan on doing on the standard touristy things, but what are some things we might miss out on otherwise? We enjoy fine dining, touring impressive feats of engineering, unusual or highly specific museums, the gothic or macabre, antiques, high end second hand mensware shops, and all types of ruins. Day trip advice very welcome.

At short notice we'll be flying into Barajas tomorrow at 11am, picking up family at Av De America bus station at 12.30 and driving down to Malaga. I haven't lived in Madrid for 20 years but I do know that restaurants around Principe de Vergara are unlikely to have come down in price! Are there smaller locations as we exit Madrid that would be better options for a family of 6? what's traffic like at this time of the year? what's the latest serving time? thanks..

I am going to be in Madrid, Spain for a few days. Most of my time is scripted. However, I had the afternoon of New Year's Eve free. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? I am already going to the Prado, taking a walking tour, and a bus tour. I am looking for something that is a must see or do. I am a female in my early 40s. I need a laundromat in Madrid, Spain. They seem to not exist and the threads online that list a few are quite old and the locations no longer exist (see: this thread and note. Surely this is not so. If none exists, an acceptable laundry service that will, for a reasonable price, wash and dry clothes without heavily perfumed (or perfume free) detergent [not a dry cleaning] will do... preferably near Gran Via, but anywhere will do at this point.

My husband and I are going on vacation in May, and need hotel recommendations for Madrid. We will be there for a couple of days at the start of our trip, and a couple more days at the end. (The middle part is tooling around Morocco in a car and lazing at a resort in Gran Canaria, so wouldn't mind tips for those spots either.)
