A very short Korea

I'll travelling from Japan back to the UK in May, stopping in Seoul for 2 nights/1.5 days. It's not much time and I don't want to rush around, but would like to see a couple of interesting features. Where should I stay? What shouldn't I miss? [more inside]

COVID test in Busan, South Korea

We are traveling from Korea to the U.S., and need to show a negative COVID test at the airport. Has anyone had good luck with a particular site? It seems like some locations only send you a text message with the result, which doesn’t seem to satisfy the requirements.

How to buy a ferry ticket from Busan->Tsushima (Izuhara) from the US

I know what I need and even where to buy it, but I'm running into difficulty using the Daea ferry website. Largely because it's all in Korean, and I don't speak Korean. Some other complications around website verification inside... [Oh, and I won't be allowed to fly to Busan from Tokyo unless I can demonstrate I have a return ticket to leave Korea.] [more inside]

What to wear to South Korea, and also what to bring?

Going on a trip to S Korea for a week this month. I want to know what I should wear to fit in more. Is t-shirt/jeans too casual or tourist-y for an everyday look? I (half-korean female) already know I'm not going to shop there because I'm waaaaay too big and tall for their clothes. Also, is there anything really important I should bring with me as I am out and about?

Tokyo or Seoul For Solo Traveler: Or Both?

I was originally planning to vacation in Tokyo for 2 weeks end Oct, but having been there before, figured Seoul would be a more adventurous option. But now I find myself swinging back in favor of Tokyo, and I think I need some help. [more inside]

Weird and wonderful Seoul~

I’ll be traveling to Seoul, SK in three days to visit my brother and attend his PhD graduation (yay!). There will be plenty of sight-seeing of tourist spots with family, but will want some solo time to do my own thing. What are some fun things that are on the weirder side, or queer-friendly? Interesting things to do in South Korea?

We will have a few days in Seoul and a few in Busan. We have spend a good amount of time there in the past, so we are familiar with most of the major attractions. We are looking for either less well-known things, or stuff that has opened up in past few years. Interesting food especially, but also whatever else you think is good.

How to get from Seoul to Jinju Lantern Festival?

We'll be visiting Seoul next week, and are keen to get out to the Jinju Lantern festival as it looks amazing. Getting there, however, seems like a royal PITA, with googlemaps telling me 5 hours minumum each way, trains and busses. We can't speak Korean past a few words and don't read Hangol. Do you think this is doable for two tourists with limited to nonexistent language skills, or too much? [more inside]

Korea winter break itinerary for young solo traveler

My daughter (college sophomore) is fulfilling a dream by spending her whole winter break in Korea and we've got tickets booked, but she's getting a little stuck with planning an actual itinerary. Possibly relevant is the fact that she's dealing with moderate generalized and social anxiety. Looking for suggestions of maybe the top 3-4 destinations other than Seoul that will be relatively easy for her to negotiate as a solo traveler and allow her to appreciate what the country has to offer over her 28-day stay. I'm visiting Seoul next month -- can you give me some advice?

My wife and I are visiting Seoul for the first time next month, and I'm hoping some experienced visitors can help me with some logistical questions. Specifically, Google isn't being super helpful with transit into and around the city, and wireless connectivity. We will have two Verizon iPhones that I'd like to be able to connect while we're out and about (our hotel has free wifi), and it looks like renting a mobile hotspot at the airport will accomplish that. Is there a better option I should look into? A complicating factor is that our plane arrives at about 4:00am local time, but it appears we can get the hotspot delivered to our hotel. Is there normal transportation into the city available at that time of day? We will be making our way to Jamsil-dong, near the Sports Complex subway stop. Once in the city, is there any kind of unlimited ride pass for transit, or will we be stuck reloading cards the whole time?
