Three Americans (American passports) have a flight from Kansai International Airport (Japan) to Seoul (South Korea). The flight boards on Monday at 8:45 am. What time should we get to the airport?

To be on the safe side I would say 3 hours ahead of the flight. Therefore, you should arrive at the airport at 5:45 a.m.

I just took a flight from Kansai and my check in counter did not open until 2 hours before the flight, though that was with a budget airline. It is a small airport so it is not hard to navigate. The walk to the gate was long though, so give yourself plenty of time. 2 hours is plenty.
