Vancouver BC with kids?

Vancouver is incredible in the summer but we'd love suggestions for things to do with a 9 year old and a 1 year old. And also suggestions for things adults with such children in tow could enjoy.

Nice place to stay outside Vancouver ca

Hi. I'm going to be in Vancouver for a few days next week and would like to find a nice small town to stay for a night in outside of the city. No more than 2 hours drive hopefully. Any recommendations for short hikes or other things we must do would be welcome. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Vancouver, BC: Where to stay, getting around: maybe going to UBC edition

My teen daughter and I are doing a quick trip to Vancouver, BC at the end of March as part of spring break. I need advice on where to stay and whether or not we can get around on just public transportation. Difficulty level: She'll get her acceptance or rejection letter to UBC a few days before our trip, so I need to stay somewhere that makes it easy to get to UBC - OR let's us completely avoid campus and just do fun stuff elsewhere. Snow chains for Vancouver, BC this weekend?

We have a new 2016 Camry (which I think is FWD), and we're driving from Seattle to Vancouver, BC this weekend. Weather Underground is forecasting snow Fri-Mon (0-4 celsius, 33-40 fahrenheit, 1-2 inches/day). Will we need chains? [more inside]

Vancouver over Thanksgiving?

Thanks to overzealous use of Google Flights, I'm going to Vancouver next week. Which is great, but I'll be there over Thanksgiving. Will there be anything to do or anything open over the holiday? I especially need ideas that are inside in case of bad weather. (My current plans are 1. go to Vancouver Island overnight 2. eat ALL the sushi 3. whale watch 4.walk/bike around aimlessly)

Best winter hikes on Vancouver Island?

I would like to take my girlfriend to Vancouver Island for the New Year. I'm looking for one or two great day hikes on the island that still be doable even if there is snowfall. I imagine a coastal hike is our best bet, and I'm looking for recommendations. Bonus points if you can see a mountain from the hike. Even a big hill.

Where can I see a bear in the wild on Vancouver Island?

I'm visiting Vancouver Island this week and next. I have a free weekend. I am from Australia and have never seen a bear. Apparently Vancouver Island is full of them, but presumably not in downtown Victoria. I've seen tours advertised to go look at grizzly bears, but they are at least 3 days long, over a thousand dollars in price, and I don't care whether I see a grizzly or a black bear: I just want me some bears of any of the varieties. Canada's really big

I got some great suggestions about visiting British Columbia last year, but we didn't make it that far because we already had so many stops. This year we want to visit Crater Lake, Portland, B. C., and Seattle (in that order, due to the timing of an event in Seattle and having to rush back home for the fall semester). And I have some more specific questions about the whole Canada thing.
