hammond me

what instrument should i use to get the hammond organ sound

ok i dont want to spend any money, i just want to be able to make the hammond sound in a few recordings. dont need midi, dont need anything expandable or flexible. just want something simple and cheap to make the sound. what should i use?

Freeware VSTs? I used to have a few but lost them in a hard drive crash, but a quick google turns up a few possibilities. Here's one to start with: http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/consultoresasociados/dal/syntheway/organux.htm

The Nubi LE VST is freeware with a very nice hammond sound. Download here.

Native Instruments has a pretty good B4 simulator. It's not cheap exactly but perhaps they have a free trial or something? I don't remember.

(i love that this is listed under "religion and philosophy." Truly, the hammond organ is a religious experience).
