What are the best new music playlists on Spotify?

Apart from Spotify's in-house playlists like New Music Friday, what are your favorite regularly-updated new releases playlists on Spotify? Any genre!

My platonic ideal of a new music playlist is 30-50 songs, replaced either weekly or monthly with a complete new list, focused on music that was released during the last week or month. But I'm open to exploring.

Yes, I am aware of Spotify's issues as a company.

Best answer: Matthew Perpetua curates a zillion different interesting lists on Spotify, including a new music one. I think he adds to the existing 2024 list rather than cycling/rotating songs.

Best answer: r/indieheads has a weekly new music playlist that has the buzziest new songs on the group. It's automatically updated by a bot, I believe.

In a similar vein is NPR's New Music Friday playlist.

somewhat seasonal, but annual ritual for me around this time of the year, is checking out the playlists of bands playing SXSW

Best answer: Since there aren't very many responses to this, I'm going to add more suggestions for new music playlists that *don't* get replaced each week - these are more the type that the curator will add new songs to each week when new albums get released; you could just listen to whatever is new to the list.

Timorousme, who does New Music for Old Heads on TikTok, aimed at people whose music taste peaked in the 90s/00s, has annual best new tracks playlists.

Pitchfork has a continuous list that they seem to have started in 2023. Stereogum has one that they add their five best new songs of the week to.

Best answer: I really like KCRW’s 5 Songs to Hear this Week. It’s up to about 86 hours, so it’s not quite the fresh upload you’re looking for, but to my ears it’s reliably interesting and it has given me some of my favorite songs over the past couple of years. I’m on my phone so not easy to link—sorry!
