Surely there’s something better than “no-weed January”
January 1, 2024 3:57 PM   Subscribe

I’m taking a break from consuming cannabis for the month of January. I’d like to find a concise phrase to describe that break, akin to “dry January”, but I’m having trouble coming up with anything. Any ideas?

“Sober January” doesn’t quite fit because I’m not abstaining from alcohol or other substances, just weed. Humorous suggestions are fine (“Jointless January” perhaps?). I’m looking for a phrases I can use in my own head to feel more like I’m doing a Cool Fun Thing, as well as phrases I can use with friends to easily express that I’m temporarily not smoking.

Nary Jane January.

Edit: This is perhaps too easily misheard and/or read as “Mary Jane January”, producing the opposite effect.

Not plumping for my answer, but I’ve wondered for years whether the name 'Canada Dry' was meant to point to a lack of alcohol or not, and it turns out that it was:
J.J. McLaughlin, who produced and sold soda water in Canada, had become captivated by the champagne he bought when in France. After many years of research, in 1904 he succeeded in developing ginger ale (champagne without the alcohol). As if to express his confidence, McLaughlin named the drink he previously called "champagne of ginger ale" after his mother country, calling it "Canada Dry."

Best answer: I like briank's Jointless January but would go for "Jointfree January" to get a bit of rhyme n' rhythm along with the alliteration!

Eh, I would say that you were "Wyoming Sober" (or Kansas, Idaho, or South Carolina - but imo WY sounds best.)

Best answer: Weedless Winter - next year you might do February for Weedless Winter, instead of January.
