Songfinder: "Pure science doesn't move me anymore"

Anyone know this late '80s/early '90s song sung by a female vocalist? Remembered (and possibly misremembered) lyrics inside!
She drives through the desert – her van breaks down.
Good thing she’s got a bike, she’ll ride it into town.
She’s a scientist so it’s not strange
That she’s out here alone on the range.
Good thing it’s spring, it’s not too hot
(it’s not too hot, it’s not too hot)
And all the things
She hasn’t got
She’s dreaming of
Here in the desert, thinking…
(chorus) Pure science doesn’t move me any more.”

Your recalled lyrics seem really specific - and they are also, in my attempts at least, very resistant to a search engine match - in whole or part. So sounds like there is a matching song out there - but just not a well known one. Maybe that is a clue for you: think more friends who may have written something, bands you might know, etc. If would also love to hear it if it can be found; sounds interesting.
