Do you have pinch-pleat curtains?

Do you have pinch pleat, aka triple-pleat, aka French pleat curtains? Would you kindly measure for me the depth of the curtain when stacked? In other words, when the curtain is pulled open, what is the measurement from the rearmost point closes to the window the frontmost point facing the room?

Response by poster: God. ". . . the rearmost point closest to the window to the frontmost point facing the room."

I'm starting to worry about myself.

Three measurements for you.
- 31(ish) inch window/curtain rod. This is the dimension of curtain panel I bought.
- 55(ish) inch unpleated curtain width (ie the end with no pleats)
- 11(ish) inch of curtains when gathered at top

The 11inch measurement is the one you were looking for I think and this is a little bit deceptive as there is a carrier on the draper rod so the last pleat at the edge is pinned flat against this carrier and the very end doesn't fold in but stays open.

Do I understand correctly that you're trying to find the depth of the curtain, when gathered?

(I can't directly answer your question as I don't have those curtains, sorry, just trying to clarify.)

Response by poster: Yes, the depth. Maybe it will help if I explain why I’m asking. I want to make curtains for a sliding glass door that is on a wall perpendicular to a cabinet. The space between the cabinet and the door is very narrow and I’m not sure if there’s room for the pleats when the curtains are open or if I should choose a softer type of heading that will be okay with being squished.

Countrymod, thank you so much but I’m afraid I’m not sure what you’re saying. I was expecting an answer somewhere in the 4” to 8” range.

I was just about to measure ours but realized that they’re fake pleats with clips. My wife says there are pinch pleat calculators online, but she didn’t have a recommendation for one right off the bat.

Response by poster: Yes, I'm familiar with the calculators but they don't calculate this, because it's not something most people ever need to know.

Woops I didn't understand that question at all.

From the exterior wall to the pleat of the curtain is 7inches but that also includes the depth of the curtain rod. The pleat depth is 3.5 inches which is the full "stack" of the pleat when it's open measuring out from the rod.

I think you're looking for pleat depth but you'll have to consider rod depth as well as pleat depth when planning your space. Sometimes in the pinch pleat world I have seen pleat depth provided as there are shallow pleated curtains.

Happy to send a couple of photos of curtains I've measured and a diagram of measurements if it helps.
