Argh, heard an ad or saw a description for a new sci-fi podcast, but can't find it in the ever growing morass of content. Not much description here, but ... scientist wakes up on a planet (colony?) alone? Supposed to have great sound design. It's new apparently. Anyone?

There was one episode of a longer series that played on the Drabblecast this Summer.

It had great sound design, but I don't know if it quite fits your description?

Are you possibly thinking of Forest 404? The story doesn't fit (it's a scientist/technician in a dystopian future figuring out clues about the past), but the sound design is supposed to be pretty dang good.

Best answer: Is it VAST Horizon? It has the "scientist wakes up alone" bit (and the "new" bit, and the "has been paying for lots of ads on other podcasts" bit) but it's on a colony ship:

Nolira is an agronomist tasked with establishing agriculture in a new solar system, but when she wakes up on a now- empty colony ship, the whole of her plan disappears. The ship has been set adrift, with numerous mission-critical problems requiring immediate attendance outside of her area of expertise. Nolira is aided by the ship’s malfunctioning AI, which acts as her confidant and companion during the fight for survival.

I heard a few ads for this on Mission to Zyxx but I haven't listened to it yet.

Earth Break with Jenny Slate? It has the alone and great sound design part covered.
