BarcelonaFilter - vacation rentals via Craigslist?

For short term rentals in Barcelona, there's the usual AirBnb or VRBO, but I see a dozen or so listings on Craigslist vacation rentals. Wondering if these are legit.
Need to rent for about 2 weeks.

They look legit, but who knows. They're a fair bit cheaper than AirBnb. How do I tell if these are legit? I will ask for references, of course, put deposit on a credit card and request a rental agreement. Other things to look out for?

Same here: the first three I picked showed up as dupe for phony listings in Paris, Amsterdam, etc.
I'd be wary of sifting through those trying to find one I thought smelled okay. You might just end up with someone who is better at fraud. Maybe just take the hint that this is not a safe place to find lodging.

The local version of craiglist is loquo, which seems to be down at the moment. That is likely more legit than craigslist in bcn.

Best answer: I used to do this all the time before AirBnB (i.e., nightly vacation rentals on craigslist) but with AirBnB I really don't see why you would use craiglist. Yes, you don't have to cut AirBnB a check, but you could just charge a bit more to make up for it, and it's better for a legit renter as well (insurance, reviews, support, etc.) I would stay away.

I picked an ad at random, and a Google Image search on the first image leads to a sketchy apartment rental in Dublin, Ireland (not linking because my browser was angry at me for going there).
