Best new books on obesity research (that are not weight-loss guides)?

I really enjoyed Gina Kolata's Rethinking Thin and Ellen Ruppel Shell's The Hungry Gene, but they were published in 2008 and 2003, respectively. Presumably quite a bit of research has been done on obesity in the last decade+, and I'm wondering what the best books are that cover it broadly. I'm definitely not looking for how-to diet guides, but also not necessarily interested in authors with a pointed agenda (HAES, anti-sugar, etc).

Secrets from the Eating Lab might be in the vein of what you are looking for. It does skew in the direction of "tricks for eating less" but the research part of it is interesting stuff.

The most up to date might be this very recent NYTimes story about The Biggest Loser folks after the show. Fascinating stuff.

I just read this article on Slate and thought it was very well-written and researched. It's by Harriet Brown, who wrote Body of Truth: How Science, History, and Culture Drive Our Obsession with Weight--and What We Can Do about It.

I like these health/diet blogs and I think they would recommend scientifically valid books.
