What is the commercial from the 90's where a little boy says this? The best I can come up with is that it is a commercial for some type of charity, and the "plot" of the commercial is that this middle-aged guy donated and made life better for the boy. In my memory, the boy is playing with a puppy in a field, the boy says "I've never met you but I love you" in a letter to the man, and the man says "I can't tell you how that made me feel" -- kinda through tears. Any ideas what this was? Does anyone else remember it?

I remember a similar line of dialog from the Pixar movie, Up.

The old man and boy find a talking dog named Doug. Doug runs up to the old man and says "Hi, my name is Doug. I just met you, and I love you!".

The old man and boy go on to make life better for each other.

No, it's definitely a commercial from the 90's (or maybe even late 80s?).

Someone asked about it here too, but I don't think any of those answers are right.

This is driving me nuts! I can hear the kid's voice in my head.

I remember this too, but I can't remember where from (not Up). Maybe a Christian Children's Fund commercial?

Response by poster: Well, it makes me feel better that people are remembering it! Even if we can't come up with what it was for. I ask because I say the line "I've never met you but I love you" in the kid voice from time to time as a joke when circumstances align to make it a funny reference -- but most people don't get it!

Makes me think of a line from V for Vendetta: "...even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you." Although it's an
