Last.fm scrobbling, plus their Facebook link thingy ought to do it.

I'm sorry, on reflection, that first link is a bit unhelpfully overkill if you're not already familiar with scrobbling. Basically you want to set up a free Last.fm account and download their software, which will watch what you're playing in iTunes and log it to your profile.

Bonus points: join the Metafilter Scrobblers group.

I can't personally speak to the effectiveness of Last.fm's Facebook Link, but if it does what it says it does, I reckon it does what you want done.

If you are on a mac, I recommend the app Bowtie over Last.fm's own scrobbling app. Much more minimal, and stays out of your way, just doing its thing in the background.

Response by poster: I've used Last.fm for years but that facebook link only takes me to my facebook page. Nothing seems to happen?

The app referenced doesn't seem to exist anymore. Here's a list of Last.fm apps on Facebook.
