9, 10, something, something, boo!

My best friend is watching the new Nightmare on Elm Street right now... can you help me creep him out later?

Best friend and I have an ongoing scare war. After a few years of just hiding, popping out, and screaming "boo!" we've become more subtle with our tactics.

We'll most likely be talking on the phone tonight and I'd like to sprinkle a few lines in my conversation that would possibly remind him of scenes or ideas from the movie.
I haven't seen this movie yet so I'm asking the green.

I'd like to be as subtle as possible so I come off as 'innocent'.
Less along the lines of, "Hi, how's it going... oh, did I tell you that: 1, 2, Freddy's coming for you? So, 3, 4, you better shut the door."

and more, "I can't stop playing StarCraft 2! I don't think I'm gonna sleep tonight."

Was that even remotely creepy? Maybe that was too subtle? Any better ideas?

Are you opposed to interrupting yourself mid-word with a blood-curdling scream which lasts and lasts? Then you should go silent/unresponsive, of course.

yeah, i've heard that this is a pretty un-scary movie, so I think you've got your work cut out here for yourself.

haha, "cut" out? see what I did there? Maybe try something subtle like that.

Tell him how you've always thought that the scariest thing about Freddy Krueger is that he doesn't have to exist to get you. Your friends might find you tomorrow morning and the autopsy might read stroke, but your last memory could have been the confusion/terror of being sliced up by an 80s horror movie icon. Tell him you think Freddy Krueger is scary because your subconscious might take the patterns that make up the character of Freddy Krueger and utilize it to self-destruct because of some guilt issues/karma that you have. Tell him that while its true that this could be said of any fictitious character, it seems especially pertinent to the character of Freddy Krueger, because of the built in 'dream quality' to him. Tell him that you've always had creeping sensation that one day you would wake up to take a leak, turn on the bathroom light, and see Freddy Krueger's cackling, scarred, mocking mug laughing at you, the shock of which causes severe cardiac arrest.

If you say it in just the right way, and he is in just the right mood...it might work.

Also, you could try calling him and sending your tongue through the phone line ...

Pretend that you saw him somewhere else while he was at the movie, and talked about dreams.

"You just got back from where? Come on dude I know you didn't go to that. I saw you in the park just an hour ago. Remember, you told me about that dream you have where a double takes over your life."

For greater subtlety, make it about someone else that you know was with him, and/or enlist confederates.

Be sure to end the phone call quickly as if you're a little creeped out by him after he insists you're lying and tries to call you on the joke. "Yeah, okay, I guess it wad someone else. Listen, uh... I gotta..."

*screeeeeee screeeeeeeee screeeeeeeeee*

Also, something to play the theme song just low enough you wonder if you're really hearing it. Maybe an iPod with headphones turned up loud and not in earshot.

show him the first one, then remind him that the time he spent watching the remake is gone.

failing that, when he's sleeping toss a few racoons in his room.
not really related to the movie, but trust me.

Go to his house, cut out the power. In one of the windows, put up a cardboard cutout of a guy in a fedora with clawed fingers. If there happens to be lightning, wait for that to illuminate the window, and when your friend suddenly sees the silhouette, he'll get the crap scared out of him. If there's no lightning, use a floodlight. Good luck.

...Or is he asleep already?
