Wanted: Cheap, safe, long-term parking at JFK

I want to leave my car at JFK for 10 days, and would like something cheaper than the $18/day that JFK long term parking requires, but have no way to differentiate between the different off-airport sites. I am soliciting recommendations or discommendations for specific sites based on actual experience.

We would always use AviStar. Great rates and easy drop off and pick up.

Ditto on the AviStar.

Best answer: Last time I flew out of there I used Smart Park. $12, no coupon. A newer place, and a bit more chaotic than other more established options. But my car was still there when I got back, and I didn't have to wait long for a shuttle bus.

Avistar is good too, and I've used them, but their book rate is often more expensive than the airport parking (because it's valet not self-park). You need to use coupons to keep them competitive, like this one for $11.75. A few months ago, the coupon rate was $14, which is why I used the other place.

Also, all these places can be really hard to find if you don't have a GPS to guide you.

I will also endorse AviStar. The last time I used a no-name cheapie at the airport I arrived in pitch black and wasn't even dropped at my car when I returned, despite promises of valet service. You don't want to skimp on something like airport parking in NYC.

Response by poster: Thank you for all the comments, looks like Avistar (with smackfu's coupon) is the clear winner.
