I love examples of the instant appearance of musical ability, for example, Elegant Iggy, Johann Mouse, and Green Card. Can you suggest others?

Best answer: There's the scene in Walk Hard where young Dewey picks up the blues right away...

On Malcolm in the Middle, Dewey is a musical genius without any training or lessons. He plays piano silently on a paper keyboard and know one can tell he's actually good until he builds his own instrument out of knick-knacks stolen from around the house and wows everyone. The scene seems to have been removed from youtube.

August Rush. The first time he touches a guitar he is able to make music.

Victor Borge would a reverse example, I suppose. He has the talent, but quashes it for the sake of humor.

Not exactly instant, but check out the true story of a guy who became a pianist after getting struck by lightning: google "Tony Cicoria"

In Elf when the girlfriend spontaneously starts singing "Santa Claus is coming to town".
In Big when Hanks plays the giant keyboard.

In the british sitcom Black Books, Bill Bailey's character, Manny, discovers unexpectedly that he can play piano, much like Iggy.

(fast forward to 8:00).

Of course, it's funnier because Manny (like Iggy) was portrayed as something of an idiot before that. And the fact that Bill Bailey is an excellent pianist helps.

No time to look for a video link on this one, but there's also an episode of Strangers With Candy where Jerry discovers she's naturally brilliant at violin (or string paddle, as she calls it).

To paraphrase a line from the episode: "Talk to you later; I gotta go practice at this thing I'm already brilliant at!"
