What should I use to catch bottle caps?

I recently wall-mounted a bottle opener. I needed something to catch the bottle caps, so I grabbed a measuring cup. This isn't a terrible arrangement, but I might want to use the measuring cup to measure something at some point. As it is, it takes some practice to land the cap in the cup every time. Any suggestions for a replacement? My current situation. For scale, the cup is 4" high and the bottom of the opener is 19" above the counter. Thanks.

I use a coffee can hanging on a nail about 6 inches below the opener. Its low tech and pretty ugly, but works really well.

Whatever you use as the receptacle, mount a little basketball hoop just above it.

I catch the caps in my hand and throw them in the garbage.

One of these recycled beer or soda bottles might be clever.

You could get a cutlery caddy from IKEA or any kitchen store.

Make a bottle-cap basket, or I could send you one from here in Africa, they're all over the place at the craft markets.

I'd mount a wide-necked funnel on the wall, and connect it to a bucket under the counter with 1.5" ribbed flex hose. Kchink-fzzz plunk wuggeta wuggeta wuggeta wuggeta plash!

Second the magnets. An old speaker that doesn't work is perfect. Or a string of nail-collecting magnets from the hardware store.

I use a clear plastic barrell-shaped container that once held those big hard pretzels. It's been filling for years and it's kind of cool looking at the wide variety of caps filling it up gradually. Of course, my opener is in the garage by the beer fridge.

I had my old opener set up above a wastebasket. I'm not sure how I'll set up the new one. Maybe some sort of small Easter basket?

I've seen bars that use an empty olive oil can.
