Thirtieth birthday party theme?

My very best friend is turning thirty in April. Her husband has entrusted me to come up with a theme!
The husband's one suggestion for a theme was "Pretty OLD in Pink"...I don't like it. Any other ideas?
She's totally fun, really smart, and was kinda into the eighties...

My friends, sci-fi geeks all, had a series of Logan's Run parties when a bunch of us turned 30. It involved trips to the local Lazer Tag.

Don't forget that whole bunch of that 80s fashion is back in style (to my chagrin, having lived through it the first time) anyway.

Well, 30 is XXX in Roman numerals so you could be a bit risque or even just make some tame jokes about XXX-rated or even XXX as a euphamism for booze (like the cartoon jugs of moonshine)

Whatever you do, don't go with an OLD theme. It's especially galling to her friends who are over 30 and don't feel OLD.
I love the idea of an 80s theme -- your 30 birthday bash should be a real fun one!

Seconded. A good friend did a XXX-themed party for her 30th. It was relatively tame- lots of gag gifts and wine. It was a very good time and the last chance to do something fun with Roman numerals until the X-tra Large birthday 10 years from now.

I dunno... maybe print up some fake 30 dollar bills with your friend's pic? Pass them out at the party or let people redeem them for drinks?
