Help me identify a great French-language radio station I heard broadcasting near Seattle, WA, or Victoria or Vancouver, BC.

I was on San Juan Island a few weeks ago for vacation. While there, I picked up a great radio station that played eclectic music--mostly jazz. The music was almost all American jazz, r&b, soul, etc., but all of the DJs and other announcers spoke French. I never caught a station ID. I'm guessing the station was coming in from Canada, probably near Victoria or Vancouver, which are not too far (Victoria is very close). The frequency was low on the dial - something like 88.x or 89.x. It was not KPLU. I'd love to find out the station name and, if I hit the jackpot, find an online stream. Bonus question: do you know of any non-US online music streams that are similar? (I think I know about all the US ones.) Thanks.

Best answer: Here's a list of Vancouver Radio Stations. CBUX 90.9 looks like it might be the one? (It also gets rebroadcast on 88.9 in Victoria).

Response by poster: Wow, it has a stream! I'll give a listen and see if thats it. Thanks -- I googled but didn't turn up CBUX. The 88.9 freq sounds exactly right.

Best answer: Is this it? CBUX 90.9 fm is a French language station that carries Radio-Canada's Espace Musique network in Vancouver. Programs focus on the genres of classical, jazz, world and Francophone music.

Radio Canada is the French language arm of CBC -- the Canadian public broadcaster.. The English language equivalent of the show Espace was for a long time "Brave New Waves", but no new episodes are broadcast anymore.

Bonus Question Answer: for an online radio stream coming straight out of the heart of gay Paris, try Radio Nova.
