Name that evocative club tune!

NameThatTuneFilter: dance song, no lyrics, makes me think of James Bond and white sandy beaches...and i can whistle it...

I heard this gorgeous dance song at a beach party a few weeks back, then again at a bar in Lisbon over the weekend. Tried to use my phone to record a sample, but that didn't work, so I'm whistling the main theme as it shifts here [550 kb MP3].

I think it's fairly mainstream; I checked this thread about James Bond samples but nothing jumped out at me. Any ideas?

That sounds a bit like a whistled version of 'Slip into Something..." by Kinobe, which is very beach-y, very luxuriant-sounding and reasonably well-known.

What a nice whistle you have. Sorry I can't help with the song, tho... frustrating, isn't it!

I think bunglin jones has nailed it - Slip into Something was exactly what I was thinking of. There are a couple of mixes around.

Response by poster: slip into something is *close*--but not it, i don't think. the song i heard is less lounge, more dance club--there was a big thumping bass behind it. it's possible it is a slip into something remix, but the melody of the sample I'm thinking of is slightly different...

thanks for the suggestion though! i may have to find a message board specializing in this type of music...

Damn I was looking forward to a guessing game... your file is no longer available due to a download limit, maybe you can upload it somewhere else?

Song Tapper might be able to help you, reflexed — it's pretty impressive! (I'd try it myself, but like pleeker, can't access your sample.)

I'd like to listen to your sample, but it's limit is reached. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow, or if you can find somewhere else to host it.

Response by poster: wow--i thought there'd be no way a hundred people would be willing to listen to me whistle... i've put the MP3 on Odeo, which shouldn't have any hosting problems.

thanks for the interest guys! now off to try song tapper...

If you hadn't said "no lyrics", I'd have guessed "Sly" by Massive Attack. Of course, there's not really any thumping bass in "Sly" either. I'll shut up now.

If it was actually a trance/house/prog song, you might try posting at the www.trance.nu forums.
