Eye for an Eye

Obscure lyric: The song 'Eye for an Eye' by UK dance outfit UNKLE, appears to be a remix of, or at least heavily sampled from, a much earlier song. Perhaps from the 70s or 80s. Can anyone tell me what it is?

'Eye for an Eye' contains many samples from, I presume, many sources. However I once heard a song that contained the main lyric:

'Run, Run, Run but you (sure) can't hide'.

At the time I vaguely recall someone telling me it was Curtis Mayfield (maybe from the soundtrack to Superfly) - but I haven't been able to track it down. Does anyone recognise the original?

That would be 'Ball of Confusion' by the Temptations.

It's been covered several times, but the wiki page has a sample of the original recording.

"Ball of Confusion" even has the lyric in it;

Eye for an eye,
tooth for a tooth.
