Looking for offline Android music player

I have an older Galaxy that I’d like to use for an offline music player. Music will be stored on an SD card; songs will be transferred from a Windows computer to the SD card. The only feature I really want is random play mode; I want to be able to press an icon and the player chooses and plays songs in random order. I have no desire to create a playlist. I’ve tried several apps, but nothing seems to work without creating a playlist. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Just checked my copy of VLC on Android. There's a big 'shuffle' button on the 'audio' tab that shuffles and plays from my entire library. That sounds like what you are looking for.

VLC on Google Play - Direct APK Download - Various source codes for the app.

Rocket player will let you shuffle across all local music

Musicolet is probably the greatest music app I've every found. You can click on the music folder, choose shuffle and off it goes.

Seconding Musicolet. There are a zillion options though.

PowerAmp will do this. It was one of my absolute favorite apps until I switched to streaming.

Nelson and Webbster are right. You've got tons of options, and the one you want to pick is Musicolet.

The stock Samsung Music app on my last 2 Android phones (Galaxy S7 and Galaxy A52) does this.

nth-ing PowerAmp. I live with PowerAmp, shuffling through all songs on my 400GB SDcard to pick the next album to listen to -- on shuffle.
