Android music player with mono

I need an Android music player that has a mono output option.

I have a Moto G phone running Android 6. This version of Android does not have a mono-output option, so I need a player that does. I would prefer a free player, and can live with some ads. I don't want to pay much, because so many that I've tried don't perform as advertised. I'm now using n7 Player, which was billed as free, but turns out to be a trial version. It has stopped sending track data to my car stereo, which is something else I need, and its controls are obscure.

I just want a simple, reliable music player that has mono output. I don't need a lot of fancy features and recording functions.

Has anyone found such a thing?

Best answer: foobar2000 has an option to downmix stereo to mono and it's free. Lacks polish though.

If you're willing to look at paid options, Poweramp is literally the only android app I have paid for, back in 2011. 4 bucks, 7 years and a number of phones later it's still going strong - pretty good deal. It has a mono playback option.

This obviously won't help if you're using a mono bluetooth headset, but if you use a wired headset, there are also stereo to mono headphone adapters that should work with any source.

Response by poster: I am using bluetooth. I installed foobar2000, and it seems to do everything I want. The unpolished interface doesn't bother me at all.

Response by poster: It's been over a week, and foobar2000 has been solid, and done all I want.

Response by poster: Yet another update. I'm still using Foobar, but have been getting annoyed with the way it implements the shuffle function. It seems to select a very small number of songs -- less than 20 -- and play those exclusively. To get it to play others, I have to reshuffle, and the new set still includes some from the old set. I would like it to play my entire library without a lot of repetition, but Foobar doesn't seem able to do that.
