Quad roller skate shops in Chicago

Can you recommend a woman/minority-friendly skate shop in the city of Chicago that sells quad-skate gear?

My friend in Chicago ordered skates! And they're so lucky to know me - I'm getting a small kit of tools & whatnot together to send them!

But, they will also need a helmet and pads. I'd like to just buy them a gift certificate somewhere local, but even though I have Googlet and also Read It, all the shops I'm finding are painfully cool skateboard shops - even if they have pads & helmets, my friend is not a painfully cool skateboarder and may not be or feel welcome.

I would recommend dropping a message to the folks at the Windy City Rollers roller derby league. They’ll have somewhere they can recommend.

I asked a friend in Derby and she said the best place for quad gear in person the Lombard Roller Rink, which as the name implies, is out in Lombard.

Response by poster: Well thanks. Lombard is a ways out there, but it looks like the only game in town (they sponsor the Windy City Rollers - the Chicago Outfit seems to be defunct, and in any case, their sponsor was a big e-tail outfit from California).

I thought Chicago would be a big enough market to have more shops, but I probably just thought that because I'm old and I can't accept that Amazon killed everything and I helped dig graves.
