Songs with Chickens

Other than "the chicken dance song", what songs have bucks, mucks, and cockadoos? Best when on spotify.

It can have lyrics, but the fewer the better. Ideally it would be like the muppets singing chickens.

Best answer: Mucka Blucka by Tally Hall is all clucks all the time.

The earwormiest chicken-related song ever is "The chicken song". Puppets, not muppets...Ronald Reagan on drums. Watch at your own risk!

Ray Stevens, under the pseudonym "Henhouse Five Plus Too", had a top 40 single covering Glenn Miller's "In The Mood"...with only chicken clucks.

The Henhouse Five Plus Two, "In The Mood" comes to mind. Apparently, this is Ray Stevens.

Wang Rong Rollin, "Chick Chick" features a human in a chicken costume making chicken sounds.

While looking for the links for those two, I came across "Chicken Yodel," which seems to be from a talent competition in Russia. It's... really something.

It only has chicken vocals in the chorus, but “Psycho Chicken” by the Fools (A parody of “Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads) needs to be on this list.

This isn’t really what you’re looking for, but I’d be remiss not to mention “Rooster” by Alice In Chains. There might be a muppety cover version.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I know almost nothing about Austro-Bavarian culture, but it seems to be typical to interject a few chicken noises when you sing the folk song "'s Bibihenderl". This version by Takeo Ischi is definitely the most famous outside German-speaking countries, and he also performed an English version here.

The song that won Eurovision in 2018, Toy by Israeli singer Netta, has chicken noises for no discernible reason except "because Eurovision".

Slim Gaillard provides us with the innocent Chicken Rhythm and the definitely-not-innocent Dirty Rooster. (NSFW chickens)

Memphis Minnie's If you see my rooster (please run him home) contains possibly the sultriest crow ever recorded.

Willie Dixon's blues number Little Red Rooster as performed by Howlin' Wolf and Big Mama Thornton:
I have a little red rooster, too lazy to crow 'fore day
Keep everything in the barnyard upset in every way
Margie Day and the Griffin Brothers: Little Red Rooster (same title, different song)
Got a little red rooster, and man how he can crow
He's a boss of the barnyard, any ol' place he goes.
And some German randomness from 1936 movie "Glückskinder": Ich wollt' ich wär ein Huhn
Ich wollt, ich wär ein Huhn
Ich hätt nicht viel zu tun
Ich legte vormittags ein Ei
Und abends wär ich frei

I wish I were a hen,
I wouldn't have much to do
I'd lay an egg in the morning,
and afternoons I'd be free
Weirdly enough, this little song *took off* and became enough of a hit that multiple artists covered it. The Comedian Harmonists' version has some quality clucking, while the foxtrot version by Erhard Bauschke and his orchestra features an oboe-chicken.

(having read your "few/no lyrics" stipulation, I think the Slim Gaillard numbers and the Erhard Bauschke foxtrot [last link] will suit that condition best)

Sandra Boynton’s Philadelphia Chickens, unfortunately has literally no chicken noises. But they do say ‘chickens’ an awful lot.

May I present Mozart's glorious Queen of the Night aria, arranged and performed by Orriel Smith? Her Cluckoratura album is a favourite of mine. All buck, all the time.

A bit lyric-heavy, but The DeZurik (Cackle) Sisters were the queens of bird yodelling. The First Whipporwill Song and Old Dan Tucker (both MP3 links) should set the scene.

As someone whose ADHD will eventually mangle any popular tune into a chicken noise earworm, I'm so glad you asked …

The song that won Eurovision in 2018, Toy by Israeli singer Netta, has chicken noises for no discernible reason except "because Eurovision".

Come for the chicken noises, stay for the chicken dance and the empowered-women messaging! (I'm not kidding about that - "Toy" is a pretty damn awesome song.)

The blues artist Taj Mahal did a fun song called Cluck Old Hen on his album De Old Folks At Home* - it's a blues standard, but there's also a part in the intro where he strums his banjo in a riff that sounds like a bunch of happy clucking chickens.

* De Old Folks At Home is the second half of his album Giant Step and is a fantastic album that provided 1/3 of the soundtrack for my childhood.

so at least worth a listen :)
