Dance like no one is watching (and they aren't)

Something that helps me cultivate a positive mood is dancing around my apartment while doing chores. I'm looking for recommendations with an upbeat tempo and the kind of song that gets stuck in your head (in a good way).

Music really helps me flip that switch from crap day to good day! I asked a similar music question last summer, but it's time to refresh my playlist.

Here are a couple songs that I've been listening to and are working for me...

The Glow - Victoria Monet
In This World - Moby

Any recommendations like these? Anything you're currently listening to that's upbeat and working for you? I'll try everything suggested. :)

The Talking Heads’ concert film Stop Making Sense has been my background music for dance-party-housework for the last few weeks. It’s currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

Over time I've become a big fan of C89.5. It's a publicly supported dance station in Seattle. If you don't know what to play, stream that for a while!

A song they played recently that I can't get out of my head: Checklist by MAX . (Video is adorable too)

I am a big fan of No Lights, No Lycra. Up until isolation times, we met and danced in the dark. Now we have (eg) Spotify for NLNL music for the same thing in our own homes. I love not having to come up with tunes that make you want to groove out unselfconsciously.

A bunch of songs from the Trolls soundtrack do this for me.

I've been using various upbeat songs for VR-based boxing workouts recently, and the three songs from my workout playlist that I find myself involuntarily shaking it to when they come on are:

Dragostea Din Tei - O-Zone (I know it's a meme but it works)
Hey Ya - OutKast (a very famous song that I forgot existed for like a decade)
Bubblegum Bitch - Marina and the Diamonds (not a word I am in the habit of using or promoting but...it works)

So some caveats there for all of them but they are my most-guaranteed ass-shaking songs right now.

I've been doing the same thing! My current favorite is Robyn's - Dancing on My Own. Lyrics are not upbeat but the song is! Most Robyn songs will work. Other current favorites are:

White Reaper - Might be Right (very rock but very danceable!)
Glass Animals - Your Love
Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness
Major Lazer - Que Calor
Megan the Stallion - Hot Girl
Sofi Tucker - Purple Hat
Whitney Houston - It's Not Right But It's Ok

Over time I've added recommendations to my public spotify dance playlist, which you're welcome to listen to. It ranges from house/ambient/trance to scandi pop to lounge, funk, hip hop, rap, and on.

A little different, as it's guided, but Body Groove is great for this. Sometimes I listen to her, sometimes I just dance. Lots of really great music!
