Podcast alarm app?

For some unfathomable reason, I haven't been able to find a single iphone app that will allow me to play a podcast as a wake-up alarm. Surely, SURELY, this incredibly basic functionality must be available SOMEWHERE. Yes I have seen this question, the app marked as 'best answer' no longer exists.

(yeah, I'm mad about this)

Is playing a static mp3 file an OK solution? Or does it need to be the latest episode of a podcast, meaning a new mp3 whenever they issue a new episode?

Alarm Clock Pro maybe?

The itunes description is weirdly vague on this, it definitely claims to support falling asleep to a podcast (sleep timer), but the alarms are listed as: "Select your song or even playlist as alarm"

The copy from their website says this though:
"Unlimited custom alarms
Wake up to your favorite music, podcast, audiobook or select from a variety of alarms. tones."

The first solution on the linked question still works. It's kind of a hassle to do on a regular basis, especially if you don't use iTunes as your main podcast app, so I wouldn't do it for a news-y, time-dependent podcast, but you can do a big batch of episodes at once and have wakeup material for months.

Response by poster: Alarm Clock Pro maybe?

This one seemed as if it might work, but I'm skittish, because several recent reviews say that it randomly fails to go off sometimes... I guess I could set a backup alarm though.

Response by poster: And, I don't need it to be the latest ep, but I use the native podcast app on the iphone and don't use itunes at all...

Alarm Clock Pro used to be my One True Alarm, and yeah, it dramatically flaked out early this year. Alarms don't go off, alarms that are supposed to use my very soft waking-up-type song instead use the last song I played on the music app (invariably something really upbeat, and at max volume). I think it might have once started playing the podcast I was last listening to.

You'd assume it'd be fixed by now, but I accidentally reinstalled it when I got a new phone a few months ago and it fucked up the very first morning. I use Alarm Clock HD now, but it definitely does not do podcasts.

You could try it, but use a backup method for a while.

Aren't you asking for app suggestions? iTunes is just an app, so why the reluctance to try this solution? If you use the native app then your podcasts should show up in iTunes, then you just have to right-click on the episode, click 'get info', change the media kind (under 'options') to 'music' and you're done.

Response by poster: I thought people were saying that I'd need to somehow add it to both my phone and my computer, and make all those fiddly changes in my computer for each individual episode and then sync it to my phone? I'll totally try it, but it seems like a hell of a lot of hassle.
