Guardians of the Galaxy Release schedule

Looking at the Guardians of the Galaxy release schedule, it doesn't open in China until October 10th. It opens in Japan on September 13th, yet opened in America on August 1st. Is there a particular release why it opens in China on such a later date, when that country is a large market?

Best answer: China has a quota system that limits the number of foreign movies (i.e., American) that are released there, in order to control the competition faced by Chinese-made films. American studios don't get to choose when the movies open, the Chinese government does.

This also gives them time to add their own scenes to the movie, as they did with Iron Man 3.
