Replacement for Scansnap S1500

What is a good substitute for the Fujitsu Scansnap S1500M?

I've been tasked with purchasing a new scanner for our office. We have a Fujitsu Scansnap S1500M and really like it. It comes with OCR and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Fujitsu appears to have replaced this model with the ix500, which only comes with Adobe Standard, and doesn't seem to have the same OCR capabilities. Can anyone suggest a good replacement scanner, or potential scanner plus software workaround?

Best answer: You want the ix500. It includes Abbyy FineReader which does OCR. It also comes with a PDF management program that can handle splitting and merging of PDFs. If your workflow is linked to Adobe Acrobat Pro, buy that separately. Consider looking at PDF Pen Pro. I haven't wanted Acrobat Pro since I started using it.

Consider looking at PDF Pen Pro. I haven't wanted Acrobat Pro since I started using it.

System Requirements:
PDFpen 6.x and PDFpenPro 6.x are compatible with OS X 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9. For 10.6 please download PDFpen 5.9.9 or PDFpenPro 5.9.9.

Here's a comparison of ten PDF Creators that include OCR, but that's just one source for reviews.
