Why won't images print in my MS word document?

Why won't images print in my MS word document? Especially when these same images printed just fine in a nearly identical previous version of this document?

I have a MS word document that, when I try to print it, prints with blank spaces in place of all the images in the document.

When I go to File -> Print preview, the images appear in the correct places. However, when I go to File -> Print, and look at the "quick preview" inside the print dialog box, the images are not visible, nor are they visible when I print on paper.

This document consists of a table. Some of the cells have images in them, some have text. The text prints fine. I have an earlier version of this document that uses the same images and prints perfectly. All of my images are formatted as "In line with text."

I have not changed my printer settings that I know of, nor have I updated any drivers since I was previously able to print images successfully.

I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with Word 2008 12.3.5.

I have tried going to Word -> Preferences -> Print and making sure the "drawing objects" box is checked. It is checked. Unchecking and rechecking it has not solved this problem.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

Any chance you could post the file somewhere, so we could take a look at it?

Response by poster: mean square error - I confess I don't really know how to post it somewhere public. Do you have a suggestion for how to do that?

Try restarting your computer. We had an issue with Word images at work yesterday because of an AutoUpdate.

Best answer: If it's saved as a .docx file try doing a save as to .doc and then try printing.

Response by poster: Saving as a .doc worked! I wish I understood why these things work the way they do. Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

Yes, down save to whichever version you were running that last successfully printed. Won't solve your problem, but at least it'll print right now. And then reboot.

This sounds like general Word weirdness, not something you're doing wrong.
