Best resource for cheapo improv travel?

What are the best resources for last-minute improv traveling on the cheap? I'm not looking for a specific destination, I'd rather peruse deals and pick one that looks good. I've found the Delta page for these, but wondering if there are more general forums?

How about Kayak Explore or Pricebreaker deals on Priceline.

you might also subscribe (free) to Smarter Travel. I find it to be quite reliable, professionally done and helpful. Once you designate your home airport it automatically provides you with weekend specials, etc. Seconding some of the features on kayak

Skyscanner lets you search for the cheapest flights departing from your city to anywhere in the world (or anywhere in a particular country, etc).
