The Wombats sound like......?

Just heard this song by the Wombats. I reminds me very strongly of another song or type of sound. Can you help me identify where I've heard a song (or sound) like this? It seems very strongly eighties to me, but I can't put my finger on it.
Response by poster: I guess I'm talking about the whole experience of the song. It reminds me very specifically of another song or band, but I can't quite put my finger on it. The sound of the lead singer's voice, the melody itself, and the whole mood of it.

The synth in it reminds me a lot of Genesis, specifically "Second Home By the Sea" off the self-titled album. Sorry no link. I'm mobile.

Everything M83 has recorded in the past few years, especially Midnight City, which was completely inescapable for a few months last year.

It makes me think of Arcadia, a band that spun off from Duran Duran. (The other two joined Robert Palmer to make up PowerStation.)

I'd classify it as anthemic, minor-key British synthpop (I searched for anthemic synthpop and got this list of 80s hits).
That vocal melody specifically reminds me of something I can't quite recall.
