Looking for really trashy old paperbacks in and around Hollywood!
Can anybody name an LA bookstore than has a good collection of trashy old paperbacks from the 50s, 60s, and beyond. The sleazier the better!

Best answer: When I was in downtown LA a few weeks back I stopped in at The Last Bookstore. It had a ton of old sleazy paperbacks, mostly in SciFi, but other genres too. Also the guy behind the counter had a truly offensive mustache. HTH!

Best answer: Truly sleazy paperbacks, while not particularly expensive by rare book standards, are pretty much nonexistent at brick-and-mortar stores. Not only that, but the standard bookdealer price for cool sleaze is way inflated, like two to five times higher than eBay. And I'd skip AbeBooks altogether.
eBay often has really great stuff. The search term is "sleaze." The adults only book section is good, too. Kayo Books in San Francisco is the absolute best, though: usually cheaper than eBay, thematically organized (they have a Hollywood section, for instance), and all vintage paperbacks. They have a lot of stock in the $3-$10 range. There's also the Los Angeles Vintage Paperback Show, which already happened this year. It's on the expensive end, but all the best dealers are there with their best stock.
