I hate the new timeline on Facebook! Is there a way to change back to the old version?

I'm a facebook dummy. I don't get on it very much. I changed to the new timeline on my profile page because I thought eventually everyone was going to be switched over whether you wanted it or not, but I noticed that a lot of people's profiles are still in the old version. Can I change mine back? I hate the new timeline version! I looked and tried to figure out how to change it back, but I couldn't figure it out.

As far as I can tell, once you're on the new Timeline, you cannot go back.

I cannot claim to its effectiveness or safety, but this process and plugin claim to be able to revert from Timeline mode. Caveat emptor.

While the mandatory switch has not yet taken place, nor has a firm date been announced, Facebook said on January 24th, "Over the next few weeks, everyone will get timeline." So while TPS is right that it's a one-way door, you can take some solace in the fact that the complete switchover is coming, and since it's been 3 weeks since that post, it's coming soon (unless they change their minds, of course, which has happened before).

Use Social Fixer. I don't think it will completely undo timeline, but it'll help.

Seconding Social Fixer. It gives you a lot of options to deal with Facebook's many aggravations.

Response by poster: Thank you everyone. I thought that maybe I had misheard or misunderstood about everyone eventually being switched over, but since I didn't, I will just leave it be and try to get used to it.

I'm using FB Purity that Griphus mentioned. It's great!
