Film about lost gold treasure, set in New Zealand

Trying to find a movie I saw as a kid on HBO in the 1980's. I believe it was set in New Zealand and involved recovering a plane, carrying gold, that had crashed into a lake.
I've run all kinds of searches and can come up with nothing. I remember one of the first scenes was of a deer hunt from a helicopter, I think a net is shot over the deer. Later, the location of a crashed airplane from World War 2 is discovered, it was carrying gold bullion. The only other thing I remember about the movie is a line about the lake being about as deep as the mountains are high. It would have been shown on HBO in the United States in the early-mid 1980's.
