Can you recommend some free (or very, very cheap) puzzle/trippy/adventure-type games for a non-Intel Mac running OSX 10.4.11?

I think most of the games in the Humble Indie Bundle will work for you.

You should grab ScummVM and check out some of the free games available for it on the downloads page. I suggest Flight of the Amazon Queen for starters. You can probably find cheap copies of The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island II: LeChuck's Revenge, The Curse of Monkey Island, and Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis — if you like adventure games like Amazon Queen I highly recommend all of these, and they're all playable in ScummVM on your system.

In the trippy puzzle genre, I can't suggest Enigmo enough. It's $19.99, maybe a little pricey for what you get, but still great fun.

Can't guarantee these all run without knowing more about your hardware, but here are some games that:
- are free or cheap
- are puzzle/trippy/adventure-type games, and
- run under OS 10.4 on pre-Intel Macs:

Machinarium (demo)
Gish (demo)
Braid (requirements)
On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode 1 (demo) and Episode 2 (demo) (requirements)
Myst 3, Myst 4, and Myst 5 (demo)
World of Goo (demo) (requirements in FAQ)
Atlantis Sky Patrol (demo)
Cave Story (download and English patch)
Penumbra Overture (requirements)
Creepy Mines 2
Kiki the Nano-Bot

Assuming emulation is either a given or a sin, anything Ambrosia Software has ever made is a guaranteed winner. (If you can find a compy that has OS 9 on it, play their unported games!)

Response by poster: Thanks - these are great suggestions! I'm liking Samorost a lot, just for starters.
