What is the best way to identify a font?

What is the best way to identify a font (from an image, or screenshot)

This is the font in question - any help identifying it would be much appreciated.

WhatTheFont if you have a scanned image handy, Identifont if you don't.

Based on the text in your picture, I expect that the answer to your underlying question is "a modified form of the typeface Sassoon Bold."

Long-term: study typography.

Short-term: ask the good folk at Typophile

Not so much "modified" as "properly-kerned". To my eye it's unaltered Sassoon Sans Bold.
